Greenhouse Gas Pollution Pricing Act

Purpose

To mitigate climate change through the pan-Canadian application of pricing mechanisms to a broad set of greenhouse gas emission sources.

Reason of Hearing

Where a Compliance Order (CO) has been issued, the person to whom the CO was directed may request a review (s. 222(1) of GGPPA).

Review Officer's Role

The Review Officer may confirm or cancel the CO, or amend, suspend, add or delete a term or condition of the EPCO (s. 223 of GGPPA and s. 263 of CEPA).

Next Steps

The Minister or the person to whom the CO was directed may appeal the decision of the Review Officer to the Federal Court - Trial Division (s. 223 of GGPPA and s. 269 of CEPA).
